Asheville Regional Airport Welcomes New Non-Stop Jet Service to Orlando, Fla.

Date Posted: 3/29/2005

The Asheville Regional Airport is pleased to announce that Delta Air Lines will begin new daily non-stop jet air service between Asheville and Orlando, Florida. Service will begin on June 1, 2005 and will be operated by Delta Air Lines’ Connection carrier Chautauqua Airlines using 50-seat regional jet service. Tickets are now available for sale.

“We are extremely pleased about our longstanding partnership with Delta and being able to provide new service to the Orlando area,” said Dr. Albert B. Anderson, chairman of the Asheville Regional Airport Authority. “Delta has served our community for over 22 years. We look forward to working with our key community organizations, travelers, and businesses to promote this service and ensure its success.”

“Delta customers across the Southeast are very important to us, and we continue to respond to their requests for more nonstop flights, more often to their favorite destinations,” said Doug Blissit, Delta’s vice president – Network Analysis. “With this summer’s growth in Florida, Delta customers in Western North Carolina will enjoy nonstop jet access to the sun and fun of Florida.”

The daily round-trip service will depart Asheville at 6:05 a.m. and arrive in Orlando at 7:45 a.m. The return flight will depart Orlando at 8:50 p.m. and arrive in Asheville at 10:30 p.m.

“We are excited to welcome new non-stop jet service between Asheville and Orlando, Florida. Florida is the second largest commercial air service market for Asheville,” said airport director David N. Edwards, Jr. “The announcement of new Orlando service is great news for the full-time and seasonal Western North Carolina residents who travel to and from Florida.”

“We think this is a win-win flight both for Floridians and for residents of Western North Carolina,” stated Kelly Miller, executive director of the Asheville Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Being able to conveniently hop on a plane to Orlando or have Floridians visit Western North Carolina via a non-stop flight provides tremendous opportunity for both cities.”

The new Orlando flights are now available for sale through www.delta.com, through travel agencies, or through Delta Air Lines Reservations at 1-800-221-1212.
